Hello fellow bloggers. I am new at this but am going to give it a whirl! I love sharing stories about our crazy, dramatic, fun and exciting life here at the Brooks household so hopefully I will find this to be a great way to unload and fill you in on our ife in general! I love reading other blogs and think I will really enjoy being able to write on here and share what's on my mind.
I just started back to work Part Time, so I am pretty busy at the moment trying to adjust to our new way of life. However, I feel VERY fortunate to only work three days a week. I am still able to enjoy spending as much time as possible with little Charlotte, the most important thing in the world to me, next to God.
We have had a stroke of "bad luck" lately in our house! I used to say bad things happen to me in "threes," however lately it's been more like five or six!! We started the week off with my car breaking down and had to replace the water pump. This would be bad thing #1. As the week progressed, things went from bad to worse! Little Charlotte was scheduled to get tubes put in on Thurs. Am at 7:00. I was very nervous, but not overly worried. Besides, I am no stanger to surgery. Being that Charlotte is so little and I didn't have my first surgery until 7 years old, I was a little more concerned. BUT I have been hearing OVER AND OVER again how easy peasy this tube surgery was. Fiftten minutes MAX and she will be finished. This made me feel much better! A friend of mine shared that her little one was playing and back to normal within 2 hours. Well, none of this happened. As we were waiting, fifteen minutes turned into twenty, and twenty minutes turned into 27 minutes! I was starting to completely LOOSE it. FINALLY the Dr. came out. He very calmly told me his "part" went very well. HUH?!?! What other "part" went wrong? Here's a brief description of what happend:
Tylonal givenminutes prior to surgery, even though I told them 100 times she has a history of bad reflux. As soon as the anesthesioligist(sp) started the gas, carlotte began to vomit. She threw up the tylonal, as well as other natral secreations in her tummy. She had not had anything to drink/eat since 7pm the night before, as directed. They had to imediately start an IV, suction the vomit and try to get it all out before it went into her lungs. Apparently her resperations got very slow. She had a major larengal spasm. In recovery, she was having a "wet" cough and began gasping for breaths a few times. The decision was made to transfer her to Rex Hospital. She got a little fluid in her right lung but the Xrays looked a lot better than we thought. Long story short, Miss Priss is going to be just fine. I am now forever scarred and will never have tubes put in again. It would take major convincing. -
People should really think twice about any "elective" surgery. Complication can happen and we just wittnessed it first hand. The anesthesiologist was totally shaken up and everyone was shocked and upset. I heard one nurse say she had been there 5 years and had never seen this. Things happen! ugh. So, I guess this was bad thing #'s 2,3 4 and maybe more. When we left the hospital to go pick up our other car, the battery was dead! Bad thing# 5 I guess. Needless to say we are staying home this weekend and holding our precious baby very CLOSE to us!! Give your children kisses and hugs everyday all the time!
Did I mention the ENT doctor aslo removed a 1 inch splinter in Charlotte's foot? Crazy! We hope next week is much better and our "bad luck" turns into lots of POSITVE things!!
love the new blog!
